Join more than 1,600 gay and straight allies at the 18th annual Human Rights Campaign gala as it returns to Charlotte, North Carolina. The annual black-tie fundraiser, scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at the Charlotte Convention Center, will be the highlight of the fundraising year for the LGBT community in the Carolinas.

Recently ranked by Forbes Magazine as a Top 10 United States boom town, Charlotte is the crown jewel of the New South. The Queen City’s potential for job and population growth are quite remarkable given the global economic climate.

The city, which hosted the Democratic National Convention in September 2012, has a strong diverse heritage, reflected in part by the growing LGBT population. In 2005, the Mecklenburg County Commission added sexual orientation to its employment non-discrimination policy; in 2009 domestic partner benefits were extended to all county employees. Charlotte City Council amended its employment non-discrimination policy to include sexual orientation in 2010.

The Westin Charlotte will serve as host hotel during the 2013 HRC North Carolina Gala Weekend in Charlotte.
