  Young Adult Leadership Summit

The “LEADER I AM -- Carolinas Leadership & Action Summit” is a partnership between HRC and the national college nonprofit organization Campus Pride. The Summit is a two-day leadership development program for LGBT and ally young adults (18-25 year-old) in the Carolinas.  HRC and Campus Pride award scholarships to attend the Summit as well as be a dinner guest of HRC for the 2012 Gala on Saturday evening.  HRC North Carolina desires to involve individuals from this age group to encourage their participation as supporters and leaders of future HRC events in NC. The Summit provides an opportunity to engage with LGBT and ally national, statewide and local leaders community leaders, learn valuable organizing skills, leadership and advocacy as well as develop strategic partnerships across the Carolinas.

"Campus Pride is proud to partner with HRC on this state-wide leadership summit to support LGBT and ally youth in the Carolinas.  Campus Pride and HRC launched this program together in 2008 as part of the Gala dinner and we are glad to be part of it again," said Shane Windmeyer, executive director of Campus Pride.  Based in Charlotte, NC, Campus Pride is the leading national nonprofit organization for LGBT and ally students and campus groups at colleges and universities across the country. "Understanding social justice, activism and leadership are key to educating a generation of new leaders for equality -- and the summit will do just that."
